The Common View of Blackjack

Blackjack is also known commonly as twenty-one. The main cause for this name is that you have a main goal in the game to get an overall total of twenty-one without busting out. You are only up against the card hand of the blackjack dealer not against the hand of the other participants at the table. The dealer has a set of rules that they must abide.

If you are currently participating in a blackjack game where around 6 to 8 decks of cards are being used all of the cards of the player will be given by the dealer in a face up position, the initial card of the dealer will not be in a face up position. Blackjack games that uses a fewer decks of cards are usually given by the croupier in a face down position. Whether your cards are given by the croupier in a face up position or in a face down position, do not be hesitant to reveal your cards to the dealer or the other participants in the game to ask some things that you do not know.

In the game of blackjack, the worth of your cards are more valuable compared with the suits. The two cards from the nine cards are worth their own value. If you possess a six and eight, then the overall worth of your card hand is six+eight=fourteen. The ten cards, Jacks, King and Queen possess a value of ten. If you possess a ten card and a King card then your card hand is ten+ten=twenty. If you have a five and a Jack card is five+ten=fifteen. An ace card can be considered as one or eleven, depending on the worth of the other cards in the game. If you possess a six card and ace card then the overall worth of your card hand is seven or seventeen.

If you decided to stop, then your card hand has a value of seventeen. For example, you have received another card and it is an eight card. Your card hand is now a six, an eight and an ace card. This card hand has the worth of six+eight+one=fifteen. An ace card is worth one at this point because if it is not, the hand will be six+eight+eleven=twenty-five, which is more than twenty-one. Exceeding the total of 21 is called busting.

If you exceed the total of twenty-one then your hand will be worthless even if the dealer will also bust. Another term that you need to also be familiar with is the soft seventeen. This usually happens when you possess a card hand with an ace card that can be valued as one or eleven without exceeding the total of twenty-one.
